Workshop 1

RPL Workshop: Achievements, Impacts, Pointers for the Future

The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA’s) 30-Year NQF Conference commemorates three decades of transformative contributions to education, training and development in South Africa. It seeks to reflect on the evolution, impact, and future of the NQF; foster collaboration amongst NQF partners and stakeholders and strategise around enhancing the NQF and lifelong learning. Conference sub-themes include reflections on historical overviews, global discourses, cutting-edge developments around qualifications and lifelong learning, and flexible pathways and systems for inclusivity and social justice.

You are hereby invited to participate in a whole-day in-person pre-conference workshop on RPL. The workshop includes:

  • Presentations by leading international RPL experts and engaging around RPL developments globally
  • Sharing RPL candidate experiences
  • Engaging with good RPL practices across NQF sectors, around overcoming resistance, ensuring RPL resources, effective delivery and quality assurance of RPL, longitudinal tracking of RPL candidates, RPL and indigenous knowledge, RPL for refugees, RPL and digital/ AI futures, micro-credentials, and other aspects.

Workshop 2

Designing of Advertisements: An NQF Perspective

Date: 6 October 2025 | Time: 9h00 – 17h00

It seeks to reflect on the evolution, impact, and future of the NQF; foster collaboration amongst NQF partners and stakeholders and strategise around enhancing the NQF and lifelong learning. Conference sub-themes include reflections on historical overviews, global discourses, cutting-edge developments around qualifications and lifelong learning, and flexible pathways and systems for inclusivity and social justice.

You are hereby invited to participate in a whole-day in-person pre-conference workshop on Designing of Advertisements: An NQF Perspective. The workshop includes:

  1. Evaluation of case studies (published advertisements) to identify challenges.
  2. Evaluation of case studies relating to the use of levels, qualification types, exit level outcomes and credits in designing advertisements.
  3. Evaluation of case studies relating to the qualifications registered on the three sub-frameworks
  4. Discussions on the understanding of sub-frameworks, qualification types, Levels and credits
  5. Discuss the development of a proposed guidelines in developing advertisements

Workshop 3

Authentication Services

  1. Reflect on the evolution, impact, and future of the NQF,
  2. Foster collaboration among NQF partners and stakeholders, and
  3. Strategise towards enhancing the NQF and lifelong learning.

The conference sub-themes are:

  • Historical views: NQF milestones and impact,
  • Global discourses and good practices around (a) national/ regional qualifications frameworks (NQFs/ RQFs), (b) AI in the recognition of qualifications, (c) micro-credentials, (d) NQF partnerships, (d) quality assurance, (e) NQF coordination, (f) NQFs and professional bodies, (g) NQFs and misrepresentation/ fraud,
  • Learner-centric approaches to education and training, and promoting lifelong learning, and
  • Flexible learning-and-work pathways for social justice, development, and innovation.
